Welcome to our wed site! We hope to share the journey and updates of our wedding preparations with our family and friends via this site. We would also like to thank those who have been giving us never ending support and getting very excited over our wedding, especially to our parents, family members and close friends. Without your support, we will never be able to get things done the way they are.
We think it’ll be nice to share with you the big and small things we’ve went through till the day we say ‘I do’. It’ll be easier to write in the form of Q&A so you get the point directly and here goes!
How do we know each other?
You can’t believe it. We knew each other when we were out clubbing. Joshua was out with his friends and Sam was out with her friends. The guys came over and introduced themselves and that’s how we knew each other. Fate brought us together in Metropolis club in Perth. We do not endorse anyone going to the club to find your other half ok!
How long have we been together?
We got together in April 2000. You count the days ok!
Our journey together…
In a quick summary, we knew each other in Perth while we were studying. We were in Perth for five years and until both have graduated in our Masters degree we decided to move back to KL. Not that we don’t like Perth, the place is nice but a little too quiet for us. We still like the hustle and bustle of KL.
We have been back in KL since December 2004. Now we’re working together for East Ocean e-Imaging Sdn. Bhd. managing the company’s online website, which is eoe Online – Your Photo Fun Portal @ www.eoe.com.my
The year 2006 was a busy year for us. We renovated our house and since lived there after the renovation completes in December 2006. You can have a look at our home renovation process at ‘Our Home’ section in this website.
As a couple we definitely have some ups and downs, like any other couples. But the most important thing to us is being honest with each other. We need to share all responsibilities together and not take one another for granted. There is no secret recipe to a successful relationship but lots of hugs and kisses definitely help!
How did he propose?
We think many of you would love to know so we’ll share. Maybe some of you guys reading this can learn some tricks? This part is written by Sam.
Joshua proposed to me on Valentine’s Day 2007. Of course there are flowers and the RING! Joshua actually wrapped the bouquet of flowers himself! The night before Valentine’s Day Joshua kicked me home to my parent’s house and he went back home himself to prepare the surprise. Well of course I knew he’s up to some surprise for Valentine’s Day but I didn’t expect the Proposal!
Before that Joshua has already bought the ring when he was out with his good friend Boon Tau to buy their respective presents for Valentine’s Day. Boon Tau didn’t know Joshua was going to propose but he was very curious when he saw a jewellery shop bag Joshua’s holding after they went to search for their own presents and so Boon Tau was the first person who knew that Joshua was going to propose!
On Valentine’s Day, we just planned to cook something good at home and enjoy the rest of the day as it was a working day. After coming home from work, the first thing I saw when I opened the door was the bouquet of flowers Joshua wrapped himself laying on the floor. It was very pretty! There are 99stalks of red, champagne and white roses with the centre part made into a Heart shape with the red roses. Next to it was some rose petals he laid into a Heart shape on the floor. This was the first surprise.
So we went on to prepare our dinner. Joshua went to take his shower first and after I finished cooking I went for my shower. When I came down, the dining room was lighted with candle lights and the music was turned on (it was Astro’s Jazz channel 111 – I didn’t know this channel exists till then and was frequently tuning in to this channel ever since). The room has a romantic atmosphere and this was the second surprise (why I say it’s a surprise is because Joshua have not done this before in any occasion).
Dinner is served! Our menu was:
- Appetiser – mushroom soup (guessed we bought the wrong mushroom and the taste was weird)
- Main – Grilled salmon with buttered mushrooms (this is yummy!)
- Main 2 – Spaghetti with crab meat in cream sauce with prawns (this is a new recipe we tried but we didn’t really like it)
- Red wine (forgotten which brand, something we bought from Perth)
So ended up we didn’t finish all our food, except for the Salmon.
After dinner that’s where the action starts! Joshua blind folded me and said there was a surprise. At this time I still didn’t expect anything to do with the proposal as he has already bought me a sports shoe earlier and said it was for Valentine’s. I was just thinking he may have decorated the bedroom with candles and flower petals for a romantic night since he’s done something for the dining room.
He took me to our study room instead, which is also downstairs. After he opened the door and led me inside, he said I can take off the blind fold. The room is dark with only candle lights on the floor. The first thing I saw in front of me was a Forever Friends bear holding a heart sitting on the sofa in the room. He was standing behind me and at this instant he knelt on his knees and popped the question! Of course holding the ring! “Nei gar bei ngo lah!”
*So how did you feel this moment? Sure now you’re asking this in your head* I was speechless. Don’t know what to say. I really did not expect this. I was very surprised and actually tears came to my eye but the only thing I did was Nod. Really speechless. After that Joshua called both our parents and also my grandparents to break the news.
Ok that’s all for the proposal! Photos of our Valentine’s/Proposal Day are in the ‘Photo Gallery’ section of our website.
When to we plan to have a baby?
No comment on that! You’ll know when the time comes!
That’s all! Don’t get carried away that we’ll write a love story here. We’ve practically given you the interesting things you want to know, right?
